XLVets Skillnet will host a CPD training session with speaker Chris Linney for veterinary practitioners "Getting to Grips with Cardiac Ultrasound".
This highly practical course is suitable for vets new to performing a cardiac ultrasound in practice, this course aims to give delegates the skills to confidently perform diagnostic echocardiography. There is a max number of 12 delegate places available.

Event Details
Learning outcomes
- Gain the confidence to achieve the standard echocardiographic right-side views
- Learn to perform M-mode
- Use and interpret colour Doppler and gain an introduction in spectral Doppler (pulsed and continuous wave)
Topics include
- Right-sided cardiac scanning (Long axis views and Short axis views)
- Subjective and objective assessment of cardiac function
- Recognising and interpreting abnormalities
- Decision making for starting treatment
- Use of colour Doppler (machine dependent)
- We will end the day we a review of relevant clinical cases
About our Speaker:
Chris Linney (BVSc MSc CertAVP(VC) DipECVIM-CA (Cardiology) MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology, EBVSÒ European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Cardiology, UK)
Chris is both an RCVS Specialist and a European Specialist in Small Animal Cardiology, working at Paragon Veterinary Referrals in Yorkshire. He helped develop the busiest interventional cardiology service in the UK before joining Paragon Veterinary Referrals in 2021 where he is Head of the Cardiology team. He is renowned for his interventional cardiology experience and regularly teaches and lectures across the world on all things cardiology, with a passion for making echocardiography accessible for all. Chris also has strong ties with the charity Animals Asia in Chengdu, China and is involved with investigating heart disease in moon bears rescued from the bile-farming trade and helping to improve their health and general well-being.
